What is mechanism of action
of NEUROCARE®?
The active constituents, bilobalide and ginkgolides, improve the tolerance of brain tissue to hypoxia by increasing cerebral blood flow. Ginkgo can increase blood flow to the brain through arterial vasodilatation by stimulating prostaglandin biosynthesis or indirectly stimulating norepinephrine release.

What are side effects?
NEUROCARE® (Ginkgo Biloba) is extremely safe, and side effects are uncommon. In forty-four double-blind studies involving 9,772 patients taking GBE, the number of side effects reported was extremely low. The most common side effect are, gastrointestinal discomfort, occurred in only twenty-one cases, followed by headache (seven cases) and dizziness (six cases).

What are the contraindications?
As with other drugs, use of NEUROCARE® (Ginkgo Biloba) during pregnancy and lactation should only be considered if the benefits outweigh any possible side effects.

What are the drug interactions?
GBE may potentiate the effects of the blood-thinning drug warfarin as well as enhance the antiplatelet effects of drugs such as aspirin and ticlopidine, although this is quite rare.
